Restoring Dignity: AIM Foundation’s Lifeline for Kolkata’s Migrants and Homeless

 In the heart of Kolkata, amidst towering buildings and growing infrastructure, countless migrant workers and homeless families struggle in silence — invisible to most, and excluded from vital services like healthcare, education, and legal protection. AIM Foundation is working tirelessly to change that.


When the COVID-19 pandemic struck and lockdowns left thousands jobless and displaced, AIM was quick to act. Emergency relief efforts provided hot meals, dry rations, masks, and hygiene kits to those hit hardest. What began as crisis relief has since grown into an ongoing mission of empowerment and care.


Today, AIM’s mobile health clinics regularly visit makeshift settlements under flyovers and on pavements, offering free medical checkups, medicines, and basic health awareness. Their dedicated field workers also help community members secure identity proofs like Aadhaar and voter IDs, opening doors to critical government schemes.

To ensure children aren't left behind, AIM runs mobile classrooms and learning centers that bring literacy, numeracy, and life skills to young learners. Many of these children transition into formal schools thanks to AIM’s continued guidance.


AIM’s transitional shelters are another beacon of hope — providing temporary housing along with access to legal aid, employment support, and counseling, helping families rebuild step by step.


Through community meetings and participatory planning, AIM ensures its programs are grounded in the needs and voices of those they serve. By putting dignity at the center of its work, AIM Foundation is helping restore not just livelihoods, but also hope for a better future.

Forest Cleaning Drive from Murti to Chandrachur – A Step Towards a Greener Tomorrow

On January 11, 2021, AIM Foundation, in collaboration with Abasar and the West Bengal Forest Department, launched the “Clean Murti to Chandrachur” campaign—a 5 km forest cleaning drive through the heart of Gorumara National Park in the Himalayan foothills of West Bengal. Home to the majestic Indian rhinoceros and diverse wildlife, Gorumara is one of India’s most treasured national parks. However, as tourism grows, so do the challenges. Littering and careless human behavior threaten the delicate balance of this ecosystem. Discarded plastics and waste not only mar the natural beauty of the park but also endanger animal life and increase the risk of forest fires.
