Amphan Relief Efforts in Kishorimohanpur, Sundarbans: A Ray of Hope Amidst Despair

On June 14, 2020, in the aftermath of Cyclone Amphan—one of the most devastating storms to strike the region in decades—AIM Foundation, in collaboration with ABASAR, extended a lifeline to the remote village of Kishorimohanpur on Maipith Island, nestled deep within the Sundarbans.

Every year, the people of the Sundarbans endure unimaginable hardships. Flooded homes, damaged schools, and overstretched medical centers have become a harsh reality of life in this fragile mangrove delta. Nature has never been kind to these isolated islanders, and Cyclone Amphan only magnified their vulnerability.

Recognizing the urgency, several kind-hearted organizations and individuals came together to bring immediate relief to the villagers. The initiative provided 500 families with essential supplies including ration, dry food, masks, sanitary napkins, medicines, and basic relief materials—a much-needed support in a time of crisis.

The relief effort was not just about survival—it was about helping the community prepare for a future that aligns with nature rather than resists it. AIM Foundation is deeply grateful to Ashar Alo and Angel’s Relief for their dedicated manpower and active involvement. Their presence made it possible to reach those in dire need with speed and care.

Special appreciation goes to Aaykar Sanhati Trust for their donation of medicines and to the Income Tax Gazetted Officers’ Association for gifting new clothes to 400 children, bringing smiles to young faces amid the hardship.

A heartfelt thank you is also extended to Fuljhuri Mitra Basu for her unwavering support throughout the initiative.

Together, these efforts embody the spirit of solidarity and compassion—a reminder that even in the face of disaster, humanity can shine its brightest.
